Hood’s Brigade Flags

This is all the goods brigade flags including the 1st Texas Regiment and Hood’s Brigade, 5th Texas Regiment Flag.

During the Civil War, Hood’s Texas Brigade of the Confederate Army organized on October 22, 1861, in Richmond, Virginia, under the command of Brig. Gen. Louis T. Wigfall with the First, Fourth, and Fifth Texas Infantry Regiments. Several other regiments and companies were attached to the Brigade over the next year, with only the Third Arkansas Infantry staying until the end of the war. Col. John Bell Hood commanded the Fourth Texas Regiment until Wigfall resigned in February 1862, and Hood assumed command of the brigade. Lt. Jerome B. Robertson commanded the Fifth Texas Regiment until November 1862, when he succeeded Hood as brigade commander. Several other commanders took over until surrender in April 1865, when Col. Robert M. Powell led the brigade. Furthermore, Hood’s Brigade served in Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia and James Longstreet’s First Corps. The brigade fought at the battles of Second Manassas, Antietam, Gettysburg, and Chickamauga, among others.
